Exploring New Zealand’s South Island: Our Campervan Adventure Part 6
We had arrived on Stewart Island early evening, it was still light, just but the evening was getting old, Sandra was tired, as was I having been up very early for our Shark Adventure, and it seemed like a bit of a trek to the AirBnB where we were staying, a cabin in the woods… more …

(Updated 18/01/2011: Apologies Some Content seemed to have got lost!) Quite a while ago I published a blog entry on Visio Services , and recently I’ve picked up quite a few comments asking when Part 2 is going to happen. Well about 2.5 years after Part 1, comes Part 2 Since Part 1 was… more …

Printers are Evil …
Like many of you in techie land, I hate Printers. Today I was at Wyre Forest Swimming Club Open meet and the whole event was brought to a stand still for 30 mins by one lousy ancient printer!!! In celebration of proof that Printers Are Evil … I found this post which, whilst humerous,… more …

Terra Nova
I’m liking Terra Nova. I know, compared to Outcasts, it’s more … ‘shiny’. It’s also more entertaining, got more action, better story lines, less soul searching, less navel watching and better looking women … I know. I went up to Aberdeen in September to present to a BCS meeting “Quantum of Computing” talk, all about Quantum Computing. It seemed ot go down pretty well, and they filmed it. I was informed by Norman Bain who runs the BCS up there that the video has now been put online, so here’s the link… more …

“User Does Not Have Permission to Perform this Action”
One of those really annoying messages which gives little or no hint as to what user is having the issue. I saw this when using ULS Viewer to check for other issues I was having with a SharePoint farm. IOWSTIMER.EXE (0x09A8) 0x0C20 SharePoint Foundation Database 5586 Critical Unknown SQL Exception 297 occurred. Additional error… more …

Powershell for PowerPivot Service Application …
Powershell for PowerPivot seems to be a bit of a mish-mash really. There appears to be no way to provision a PowerPivot Service Application using Powershell which doesn’t use the Default Application Pool, and as far as I can see there appears to be no way to change the name of the Service Application… more …
